VCI and barrier foil

VCI film and VCI paper protect metal items against corrosion in transport and during storage. VCI inhibitors form an invisible protective layer on the metal surface, and aluminium barrier foil additionally limits the penetration of water vapour and oxygen into the package. Barrier foil or VCI paper?

RUST-X VCI barrier foil combines two kinds of protection: an aluminium barrier that limits the penetration of water vapour (WVTR) and oxygen (OTR), and VCI inhibitors that act on the metal surface. The foil can be heat sealed and the finished package can also be vacuumed. It works well for long-term storage and transport of machines, equipment, parts and structures made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

FERROGARD VCI anti-corrosion paper is used to wrap individual items, as an interleaf between metal parts and to line crates and containers. It works by contact and without contact, on both sides, mainly with iron and steel. It reduces the need for anti-corrosion oils and greases.

How well it protects depends, among other things, on the type of metal, how tight the package is, humidity and the transport and storage conditions.
